In order to ensure the best on-camera virtual experience, below are some best practices to follow while preparing for the event.

Background

  • Avoid bright lighting directly behind you/facing the camera.
  • Virtual Backgrounds: Google Meet does not have a built-in virtual background creator, but if you have the option via another app, please feel free to use it during the event.
  • Please feel free to personalize your background/field of view as you would like. Have some fun!

Lighting

  • For best effect, soft backlight (fixture out of frame) and indirect front light work well together to ensure a well lit and complementary space.
  • In order to avoid flares/blinding other guests, please make sure fixtures are shaded or out of frame.

Camera Angle

  1. Cameras should be set so guests can see the entirety of your face and ideally a full ¼ frame;. shoulders and chest visible.
  2. A subtle high angle tends to be most flattering, a slight look ‘up’ to the camera.
  3. Side view should still show up to 3/4s of your face. Profile shots are not recommended.
