2019 Pay It Forward Challenge:

Black History Month

At Google, we value diversity and inclusion and support individuals who do the same. We are celebrating diversity and honoring Black History Month by hosting our annual Pay It Forward Challege. We aim to amplify the efforts of students across the U.S. who have demonstrated a commitment to expanding access and opportunities for their local communities.

2019 Pay It Forward

In honor of Black History Month (BHM), Google hosts its annual Pay It Forward Challenge as a way to recognize individuals who are making a positive impact in their communities. The variety of submissions we received this year serves as a reminder that there are so many ways in which students can “pay it forward!” We’re excited to share the work of the students (middle school to PhD) below, and hope that you feel inspired by the different ways in which students across the U.S. are expanding access and opportunities for their local communities.

  • Please first review our Pay It Forward FAQs
  • Then complete this entry form and tell us how you are positively impacting your community
  • Feel free to nominate yourself or other students who are making an impact

We are looking for individuals who are:

  • 18 years and older and are a student (graduate to post-graduate)
  • Currently living in the United States
  • Demonstrate a commitment to expanding access and opportunity for their local community
  • The deadline to submit completed nominations is Friday, February 15th at 11:59pm PT
  • Applications should include a completed entry form. We’re looking for individuals to provide an overview of the work they’ve done to expand access and opportunities for their community.

Submissions will be judged by a team of Googlers on the following criteria:

  • Innovation / Creativity
  • Scale of impact
  • Long- and short-term impact
  • Vision, future plans

We will be reviewing and selecting students throughout Black History Month. Selected students will be announced on a rolling basis.
