Hello Educators!

We are looking for Black and Asian Educators to join our mentoring scheme to become Google for Education Certified Trainers.

Google for Education is committed to ensuring all educators are supported with the use of Google for Education tools and so we are working hard to drive the continuous development of diverse, equitable and inclusive communities.

We are looking for talented Black and Asian educators across the UK and Ireland, who are keen to develop their Google Workspace skills and work towards becoming a Google for Education Certified Trainer. With our FREE mentoring scheme you will gain expertise to have an even greater impact in your school, community and career.

The mentoring program lasts for six months and includes 20 hours of guided professional development. You will focus on the knowledge and skills required for Google Educator Certifications for 12 hours and will receive 6 hours of mentoring from existing Google Trainers. This great opportunity is completely free, you just need an appetite for learning and a spare hour for one evening, every other week.

What does the mentoring scheme involve?

The mentoring program lasts for six months and includes 20 hours of guided professional development. This great opportunity is completely free, you just need an appetite for learning and to commit to attending all sessions*.

Why are we focusing on Black and Asian Educators?

Google Certifications are an excellent way for educators to increase their impact in the classroom and beyond. Those willing to take a chance have been able to leverage their competency and creativity in using Google Workspace for Education tools to progress into exciting EdTech consultancy roles. Currently, those willing to take a chance for one reason or another don’t tend to represent the diverse communities they seek to consult in. This mentoring scheme aims to address that disparity by creating opportunities for Black and Asian Educators across the UK and Ireland to step comfortably into that space where they can extend their impact.

This scheme will build upon the success of the Diverse Educators pilot scheme, the first of its kind, which ran from November 2020-July 2021 (formerly referred to as BAME Educators). This small initial cohort of 33 educators from Black and Asian groups were coached and supported through their Google Certification Journey. The next wave of mentoring was used to facilitate the creation of the Inclusive Google Trainer Program, which is currently supporting 60 underserved and marginalised educators to become Google Certified Trainers. Google has answered the call and worked effectively with facilitators to ensure the certifications are more accessible than ever. This scheme returns to the initial brief by increasing the number of Black and Asian Google Certified Trainers across the UK.

How can Google for Education Certifications help you?

For many educators, completing the certifications has led to improved student outcomes in their classrooms and given them the credibility to lead the evolution of their organisation’s digital culture.

Google Levels 1 and 2 certification show that you have proficiency in using Google Workspace tools in an educational environment. The certifications and badges used in your resume, CV, or in your email signature indicate to other educators that you possess technical skills that are important in the field of education and that you have passed industry-standard, rigorous, and timed exams proving those skills.

Many have seen real career progression into leadership roles in their current schools or found opportunities elsewhere. Others have used their school-based experience and certification to migrate into exciting EdTech consultancy roles, where they deliver Google Workspace training for educators both nationally and internationally
