Coding challenges 

You will receive weekly email updates with suggested material to complete along with a new coding challenge to practice and receive feedback. Based on the solution for the coding challenge, five students will be picked each week through a raffle to have a 1:1 mock interview with a Google engineer in September.

Session 1: Get Ahead opening

This is an introduction to Get Ahead, where we’ll explain all you need to know about what to expect in the program and how to make the most of your particpation. 

Session 2: Code Health 

During this session, you'll get to hear about coding proficiency and best practices and gain insights into how industry coding differs from academic coding.

Session 3: Engineering panel discussion  

Through this panel discussion, you'll learn about Google’s culture, the daily life of a Googler, and more about various roles at Google.

Session 4: Imposter syndrome 

This will be a workshop on imposter syndrome — what it is, why it's important, and who experiences it. All this as told by a Google engineer.

Session 5: Research at Google

In this session you will learn what research areas there are in EMEA and how Google does research.

Session 6: Summer Trainee Engineering Program at Google

Through this session you will hear from previous STEP interns and now Googlers about their experience in the program and journey so far.

Session 7: Google mock interview

In this session, two Google engineers will run through a mock interview together, sharing detailed best practices designed to help you better prepare future tech interviews.

Session 8: Resume training & closing session

Through this session you will hear about best practices on how to make your resume interviewvready and next steps on how to apply for a role at Google.

Interview Workshops

Live interview workshop sessions will be conducted via Google Meet in three different programming languages: C++, Java, and Python. You will be added to a workshop based on your preferred coding language.

Google Online Challenge

You will have the chance to implement your learnings in an exciting challenge at the end of the program! 

Our social channel

You will be invited to a Slack Get Ahead private channel (within the Connect with Google Slack group) where you’ll be able to connect with fellow Get Ahead participants, ask questions around the weekly coding challenges, and take part in Get Ahead related discussions. The Slack channel will also be featuring a Google engineer to answer any coding related questions you may have during the program.
