GIGA

What is GIGA?

Do you have a great idea but do not know how to do something about it?  Have you always wanted to join a startup team - even without a concrete idea? Are you passionate and feel like working in an intercultural team?

GIGA is the right place for you - we will bring you from ideation to potential investors in just 12 weeks!

Munich meets Tel Aviv. In the "German-Israeli Growth Accelerator" (GIGA), two of the most important international locations for start-ups are joining forces. The Accelerator program sponsored by Google is designed to support innovation, facilitate the founding of German-Israeli start-ups, and deepen the connection between the two locations. The program is open to entrepreneurial minded students and young entrepreneurs from Israel and Germany - with or without a start-up experience. A total of ten German and ten Israeli participants form four to five teams and complete a 3-month program. This consists of different phases (ideation, acceleration, fine-tuning), in which the participants develop their  idea. In the end, the projects are presented to investors in Tel Aviv. The application phase for the first issue of GIGA will run until 1 March 2017. Successful applicants will enter the start-up phase via GIGA on 27 March 2017.

What makes it so special?

The aim of the joint initiative of the Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship (SCE) of the Munich University of Applied Sciences, the FOM College, the Consul General of the State of Israel and Google is to deepen the partnership between the two locations Munich and Tel Aviv. Both sides will benefit from the strengths of the other partner. The participants make contacts with entrepreneurs from the other country. Especially for Germans this is a unique opportunity to get to know the start-up nation Israel and to work with Israeli experts. For the Israeli side, it is particularly interesting to already consider the German and European market while developing the idea and to set up the German-Israeli start-up internationally from the outset.

From our past and ongoing experience with BIPA (Bavaria-Israel Partnership Accelerator) we find that the combined work of young German and Israeli professionals has great potential. By combining the Israeli “Chutzpah” and border-breaking attitude with the German structure and long-term approach, mixed teams can truly complement each other and therefore  achieve great accomplishments. The participants will be accompanied by high class mentors both in subject matter and in and cross-culture aspects.
