Frequently Asked Questions

Registered to attend GNI Digital Growth Programme? Here’s what you should know. For any other questions, please contact: gnidigitalgrowth@google.com.

The programme is open to all publishers in Europe who are at the start of their digital journey.

  • Workshops are designed for publishers who are taking their first steps in the digital world. They may be starting to explore digital offerings, creating digital content for the first time or still working out their advertising and reader monetisation strategy.
  • Labs are designed for publishers who have taken the first steps to driving value from their digital readers and are looking for ways to optimise and experiment. Some reader revenue systems may be in place but not fully developed.

GNI Digital Growth workshops are delivered via YouTube Live sessions and will last up to 45 minutes per workshop with the opportunity to ask questions through the chat feature on YouTube.

You will be able to view the sessions simply by clicking on the YouTube link that you’ll receive via email.

The link will only be available for the first 24 hours after the session to encourage participants to take part in the live workshop.

The Labs are delivered by our partners FT Strategies and Table Stakes Europe, WAN-IFRA. They will be delivered over interactive video calls for smaller groups of publishers than the workshops. Labs are available upon application.

We are launching the programme in 6 European countries/languages first (Spain,United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Poland), and will expand to many more countries/languages in the coming months.

We’re launching the programme first in Europe, but we hope to scale globally soon.

  • Each session within each module (e.g. Business Strategy) will be 45 minutes long
  • Publishers can select different roles within the newsroom to attend each module, most relevant to the topic
  • However, there is no minimum or maximum limit on the number of sessions you can register for
  • Digital Immersion takes place over 5 days with a full day commitment required (9am - 5pm).
  • Rapid Response Sprint takes place over a 2 week period with 5 days of intensive coaching and the following 5 days of prototyping and development, led by participating publishers. Each participant should be able to commit to a minimum of 6 hours per day to make the most of the training.
  • Table Stakes Europe takes place over one year.
  • Unlike the FT Subscriptions Lab launched early this year, there will not be an interview process for the workshops or any of the labs. However, space is limited, so we do recommend you apply as soon as possible
  • For the Labs, participants will be selected based on where they are on their digital maturity journey, to ensure the programme is beneficial
