Naoto Matsuura is the Senior Chief Officer of Satellite Applications and the Director of Earth Observation Research Center (EORC) at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). He is currently responsible for promoting satellite applications in the field of Earth observation, satellite positioning and telecommunication, and analysing Earth observation satellite data.
Wataru Takeuchi

Wataru Takeuchi is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at The University of Tokyo, Japan where he has been a faculty member since 2007. He is the Group Leader of Remote Sensing of Environment and Disaster Lab. He has also served as the Senior Policy Analyst for Energy and Environment at the Cabinet Office of the Government of Japan for 2017-2019. He completed his PhD. and undergraduate studies at The University of Tokyo. Dr Takeuchi’s research interests lie in developing a methodology to measure and evaluate the environmental changes of city, agricultural areas and forested area focused on human activities in Asian countries. Those researches are carried out under international technology collaboration and the derived systems are implemented and transferred to operational schemes.
Team FAMOST
Ministry of Agriculture,
Forestry and Fisheries
Team FAMOST is a cross-sectorial project at Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), Japan. The team consists of 6-7 officers. In 2018 team has developed automated field monitoring system called FAMOST (Forest and Agriculture Monitoring Observation with Satellite Technlogy) with the help of Google Earth Engine. FAMOST pilot version can detect logged areas by 70+% accuracy. The team is now struggling to release FAMOST and extend its application.

Group Leader of Application Development Group from Remote Sensing Technology Center of Japan Toshio is in the research and development department in Remote Sensing Technology Center of Japan (RESTEC). He is in charge of application development, especially for agriculture and ocean field.
Nick Clinton
Software Engineer from Google Earth Engine
Nick Clinton is on the Earth Engine developer relations team. He received a bachelors, masters and PhD from the department of Environmental Science, Policy and Management at UC Berkeley. From 2008-2011, Nick worked in the Airborne Sensor Facility of NASA Ames Research Center, producing science quality calibrated imagery and supporting sensor maintenance for thermal, multispectral and hyperspectral imagers. From 2012-2015, he was on the faculty of the Center for Earth System Science at Tsinghua University, in Beijing, China. He joined Google in 2015.
Michael DeWitt
Software Engineer from Google Earth Engine
Michael started working on Earth Engine in 2012. He particularly enjoys empowering research partners to perform important, large-scale analyses. As a Software Engineer, he has developed scalable image-processing algorithms, added new data management (import/export) capabilities, and contributed to the platform's overall stability.
Yasushi Onda
Earth Engine Ambassador for Google Earth Engine
Yasushi supports partners such as Universities, NGOs, Space agencies, and governments in the Asia-Pacific region. He also has experience at JAXA Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, researching the moon through remote sensing and lunar soil brought back to Earth by the Apollo 16 mission. Before Google, he was PM for various mobile services, and is an inventor of multiple patents. He received a bachelors from Keio University, masters in Planetary Science from The University of Tokyo, and MBA from Carnegie Mellon University.
Tomomi Matsuoka
Program Manager from Google Earth Outreach APAC
