Senior Site/Software Reliability Engineer, Zurich

Vlad joined Google in the Zurich office 6 years ago. During this time he has been working on various parts of YouTube: ContentID, the transcoding pipeline and most recently search and the personalization engine.

Vlad likes to hike and wander, sometimes in the jungle sometimes in normal places.

Iulia-Maria Comșa

Software Engineer, Google AI, Zurich

Iulia is part of Google AI, where she applies her neuroscience expertise to advance the forefront of artificial intelligence inspired by biology. She is currently working on learning algorithms in spiking artificial neural networks. Her project is part of the Compression team, whose goal is to make the internet faster for everyone.

Before joining Google, Iulia did a PhD in Neurosciences at the University of Cambridge and a Bachelor in Computer Science at Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca. Apart from studying human and artificial brains, she enjoys playing the piano, singing, writing, karate and stargazing.

Dan Anghel

Cloud Engineer, Google Cloud, Paris

Dan joined Google Paris 3 years ago after a more than 10 years long adventure in Retail. Specialized in Big Data and Machine Learning, he is helping the largest Google customers accelerate their journey into the Cloud.

Besides AI and Machine Learning, he is passionate about Metal music since childhood, so there is a great chance you will find him at the concert whenever a cool band comes to town.

Nicu Badescu

Software Engineer, Zurich

Nicu graduated from Politechnica University of Bucharest in 2016 and joined Google Switzerland after completing a summer internship at Bloomberg in London. He is part of the Google Calendar team where his main focus is on the infrastructure of the service together with its integration with Google Hangouts.

In his spare time, Nicu enjoys sports and outdoor activities including cycling and skiing.

Maria Markov

Software Engineer, Zurich

Maria joined Google 5 years ago in Mountain View, and relocated to Zurich 1 year ago. Her current team builds systems for policy enforcement for Google Shopping. In a previous life, Maria worked at a mid-sized company, at a start-up, and did internships in a few research labs.

In her spare time, Maria enjoys adventures in the mountains and/or on a bicycle.

Răzvan Culea

Cloud Engineer, Google Cloud, Paris

Răzvan joined Google Paris 7 years ago after more than 10 years long adventure in ECM. Specialized in Big Data and with an Ads background, he is helping the largest Google customers leverage their data on the Cloud.

He likes geeking with projects like liquid galaxy and also enjoys family time in remote locations, without the internet.

Anita Woodruff

Software Engineer, Google Fit (Android & Wear OS), London

Anita joined Google London 2½ years ago. She has worked as a software engineer on Google Chrome for 2 years, and more recently on Google Fit, the fitness-tracking app on Android and Wear OS.

Prior to Google, Anita studied Computer Science and Maths at the University of Bath and worked as an Android developer at SwiftKey for 3 years.

Her interests include travelling, attending SoCraTes open-space conferences, and playing ukulele.

Thorsten Koch

Customer Engineering Lead for CEE, Google Cloud, Vienna

Thorsten joined Google by the acquisition of Postini over 10 years ago. He is leading and growing the Google Cloud Customer Engineering team in CEE & CIS. His team is supporting customers and partners implementing Google Cloud Platform solutions for all kinds of use cases and in all industries.

When not working in his team’s large region with customers and partners Thorsten enjoys cooking, ballroom dancing, watersports and running.

As a Six Sigma Blackbelt and Lean practitioner, Teo has a passion for S.M.A.R.T targets, with a history of surpassing KPIs and aligning people, processes, and results with corporate strategy. Teo holds a M.S degree in Statistics, Operations, and Management Science from the University of Tennessee and Executive Education in Supply Chain Management from Stanford University.

Teo enjoys latin dancing, travelling all over the world and exploring different cultures.

He led the implementation of complex and distributed systems serving millions of users for companies like FreeLogoServices, LogoMix, WaterSmart, Ausschreibungsdienste and many more.

Marton likes gokart racing, hiking, trips, cycling, but also loves ballroom dancing.
