Hear from Jack Wang, CTO of Chope which is a leading restaurant-reservation booking platform, on how they are using modern cloud architecture to make better business decisions, streamline operations, and accelerate scale.

Startups no longer need to reinvent the wheel, and are instead turning to the cloud to automate some of the most resource-intensive parts of building a business–everything from hosting and data storage, to payments processing. CTOs and developers are eager to build on top of platforms that are flexible enough to support their businesses at all phases of growth, from seed stage to well beyond.

You will also get to learn from the experts from Google Cloud and Stripe on how startups can leverage cloud architecture to deliver growth at each phase of maturity.

Presentations will be followed by a networking session with food & drinks.

Speakers:

  • Jack Wang, CTO, Chope

Jack is an experienced technology executive with strong experience in the internet ecosystem. Prior to Chope, he was the CTO of Apricot Forest, a Healthtech company based in Beijing. Before that, he also spent time with the global software company Thoughtworks, leading their China Enterprise Mobile business group. His core areas of focus are in managing distributed engineering teams, scalable agile management, as well as data-driven orgnization transformation for business growth.

  • Jerome Poudevigne, Startup Architect, Google Cloud for Startups

Jerome Poudevigne is a Startup Architect at Google Cloud, and helps startups take off on the Google Cloud platform. Originally from France, Jerome got his first computer at the age of 13, when CPUs were 8 bits and 16K of memory was a luxury, and immediately started hacking around, putting together math applications, video games and copy protection schemes. He started as a developer for Airbus, then accidentally moved to the Silicon Valley, got bitten by the startup bug, created 3 companies, sold 2 of them and spectacularly failed another. He has lost track of how many operating systems and programming languages he has used (he just knows COBOL is one of them), but still enjoy passionately debating about the merits of the actor model in embedded software and generally anything IT related.

  • Kelvin Law, Software Engineer, Stripe

Kelvin is a software engineer at Stripe building their core Payments APIs. He grew up in Singapore and spent the last 7 years in Silicon Valley working with various startups like Twilio and SurveyMonkey. He is really an API nerd and when he is not making rube goldberg machines with web APIs, he will be trying to get every device at home to talk to one another.
