Terms & Conditions
The Lantern Award (The Lantern) is a Contest run by Google Ireland Limited whose principal place of business is at Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”).
In order to enter this Contest, you, the participating advertiser, creative agency or media agency (Contenders) and your participating employees ("Representatives") (together “Participants”) must read and agree to these terms and conditions ("Terms"). Participants agree that a Participant participating in the contest constitutes agreement to these Terms on behalf of all Participants. Contenders will provide all Representatives with a copy of these Terms. Participants must not enter the Contest and are not eligible to receive the prizes awarded in connection with this Contest (as further described below, the “Prizes”) unless they agree to these Terms.
1. Participation Eligibility
1.1 To participate in the Contest and be eligible for entry, the following conditions must be satisfied throughout the duration of the Contest:

Contenders must have their companies registered in one of the following countries: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates.

Advertisement entries have to be uploaded on YouTube during 2019 and before the deadline’s end.

Advertisements must be hosted on YouTube as a public video.
-
Content of entry must have first appeared in 2019.
-
Content of the YouTube advertisements has to be centered around either Ramadan or Eid el Fitr.

Contenders have to fill the Sign Up Sheet in order to be registered for the Contest.
1.2 Representatives must be at least 18 years of age.
1.3 Representatives must not be employees, officers, or directors of Google, its subsidiaries and affiliated companies, or be the immediate family or living in the households of any such persons.
1.4 Agency will, and will ensure that all Representatives, comply with all laws, regulation and their fiduciary obligations applicable to their entry into this Contest, including but not limited to anti-bribery laws.
1.5 All determinations of eligibility will be made at Google’s sole and absolute discretion. Google reserves the right to verify eligibility and to adjudicate on any related dispute at any time. No correspondence will be entered into.
1.6 Participants must comply with the applicable Google AdWords promotional credit terms and conditions and the Google Advertising Programme terms and conditions.
1.7 Representatives acknowledge that any prizes will be awarded to their Agency and not to them individually.
2. How to Enter
Registration
2.1 Participants must provide the details required in the registration on the contest website and accept these terms and conditions.
2.2 All the data provided through the registration process must be complete and correct.
2.3 By registering for the Contest, you will be entered into the current Contest Period and subsequent Contest Periods (as defined below). You can opt out of the Contest at any time by completing this opt-out form.

3. How to Win
Criteria
The Lantern celebrates the most engaging Ramadan Ad, ultimately based on a customized algorithm that factors in the overall views (both paid and organic), as well as the amount of engagements the winning ad will have accumulated over the periods of Ramadan and Eid el Fitr 2019.
4. Prizes
4.1 Google will award the following Prizes to the Participants of the winning ad.

4.2 Participants will not use Prizes to bribe or improperly influence another party and will comply with all applicable commercial and public anti-bribery laws which prohibit corrupt offers of anything of value, either directly or indirectly to anyone, including government officials, to obtain or keep business or to secure any other improper commercial advantage. Furthermore, Participants will not make any facilitation payments, which are payments to induce officials to perform routine functions they are otherwise obligated to perform.
5. Notification of Winners and Winners’ Obligations
5.1 If a Contender qualifies for a Prize, Google will notify it by sending an email to the address submitted in the Contender’s Contest registration.
5.2 Where applicable, Prizes will be distributed by post to the address submitted by Agency during its Contest registration. Google is not responsible for delays, loss or damage to Prizes in transit.
5.3 Google reserves the right in its reasonable discretion to substitute equivalent Prizes of equal or greater value. No cash equivalent of Prizes can be claimed.
5.4 Participants may be required to submit a declaration of eligibility and/or publicity release in order to receive a Prize. Entries will not be returned. Google is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, mutilated, incomplete and illegible entry materials, or for electronic transmission errors, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to or alterations of entry, technical malfunctions of any kind. Entries are void if they are in whole or in part incomprehensible, incomplete, damaged, irregular, altered, counterfeit, produced in error, forged, mechanically reproduced or obtained through fraud or theft.
5.5 By accepting a Prize, Agency grants to Google a worldwide, irrevocable, sub-licensable, and non-exclusive licence to use Agency’s business name, brand features and website address for advertising and promotional purposes (including, without limitation, the promotion of the Contest) for the full period of protection of any applicable intellectual property laws.
5.6 Participants agree to participate in any media or promotional activity regarding the Contest if they win a prize and, in that event, will grant to Google a worldwide, irrevocable, sub-licensable, and non-exclusive licence to use Participant’s name, image and likeness for advertising and promotional purposes.
5.7 Google will not be liable for unsuccessful efforts to notify a winner. If a winning Participant declines the Prize, does not respond to the Prize notification in reasonable time or fails to claim the Prize in the manner specified in reasonable time, is unavailable for Prize fulfillment, fails to abide by these Terms, or is ineligible, Google may decline to award the Prize and may select an alternative winner from all remaining participants.
5.8 The Prize may be subject to restrictions and/or licences and may require additional hardware, software, service, or maintenance to use. If a Participant wins a Prize, the Participant shall bear all responsibility for use of the Prize in compliance with any conditions imposed by the manufacturer or service provider, and any additional costs associated with its use, service, or maintenance.
5.9 Recipients of Prizes are solely responsible for ensuring that they comply with any applicable tax laws and filing requirements.
5.10 Prizes are non-transferrable. Participants may not sell on or give away Prizes to their customers or other persons.
5.11 Names of winners for the Contest will be available for one month after the end of the Contest. To request this list, please send an email to TheLantern@google.com
6. Privacy
6.1 Participants acknowledge that Google may collect, store, share and otherwise use personally identifiable information provided during registration for the Contest. Google will use this information for the purpose of the Contest only and will process any such personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy (http://www.google.com/policies/privacy/). Google will also use the MCC account details to verify each Participant’s identity, postal address and telephone number if an entry qualifies for a Prize.
6.2 Participant’s information may also be transferred to countries outside the country of Participant's residence, including the United States. Such other countries may not have privacy laws and regulations similar to those of the country of Participant's residence.
6.3 If a Participant does not provide the mandatory data required on the Contest website, Google reserves the right to disqualify the entry.
6.4 Participants have the right to request access, review, rectification or deletion of any personal data held by Google in connection with the Contest by writing to Google TheLantern@google.com
7. Right to Cancel, Modify or Disqualify
7.1 If for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as planned for reasons outside Google’s reasonable control, including tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, printing errors, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Contest, Google reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest, in whole or in part,at any stage.
7.2 Google reserves the right in its reasonable discretion to: (a) disqualify any Participant who tampers with the submission process or any other part of the Contest or whose conduct is contrary to the spirit of the rules or the intention of the Contest and to declare as void any or all of their claims or entries based on such conduct; (b) declare as void any claims or entries resulting from any errors materially affecting the result of the promotion or the number of claimants or the value of claims; and (c) add to or waive any of these Terms on reasonable notice.
7.3 The Contest is void where prohibited by law.
8. Limitation of Liability & Disclaimer of Warranties
8.1 Nothing in these Terms will exclude or limit the liability of Google or its affiliates for:
-
death or personal injury as a result of the negligence of Google or its affiliates, servants, agents or employees;

fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
-
any other liability that may not be excluded or limited under applicable law.
8.2 Subject to clause 7.1, Google shall not be liable under or in connection with this Contest (whether in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise) for any:
-
loss of profit; or
-
indirect or consequential losses;
-
suffered or incurred by the Participant or any Affiliated Team Member (whether or not any such losses were or were not foreseeable or within the contemplation of the parties).
8.3 Subject to clause 7.1(b), and to the extent permitted by law, all warranties, conditions or terms, express or implied, relating to the Prize, its use, value or enjoyment, including (without limitation) its satisfactory quality or fitness for purpose, are excluded, with the exception of any standard manufacturer's warranty that may apply to the Prizes.
8.4 Subject to clauses 7.1 and 7.2 Google's total liability to Agency and its Representatives under or in connection with this Contest (whether in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise) is limited in aggregate to £25,000.
9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms shall be governed by, subject to, and construed in accordance with the law of the Jurisdiction in which the Participant is resident and the Participant and Google submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that State in relation to any dispute (contractual or non-contractual) concerning these Terms.
10. Severability
If any provision(s) of these Terms are held to be invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
