The science is clear - we have until 2030 to cut global emissions by nearly half and 2050 to achieve global carbon neutrality in order to avoid the worst consequences of climate change. Cities face unique challenges and opportunities to build a zero-carbon urban economy: rapidly growing urbanization, disruptive technology, global public health crises, and changing climates and ecosystems.

Google is committed to help more than 500 cities or local governments reduce a total of one gigaton of carbon per year, starting in 2030. We’ve started by making emissions data available to 3,000 cities to help measure, plan, and track progress towards their climate action plans.
