In order to ensure the best on-camera virtual experience, below are some best practices to follow while preparing for the event.
Background
- Avoid bright lighting directly behind you/facing the camera.
- Virtual Backgrounds: Google Meet does not have a built-in virtual background creator, but if you have the option via another app, please feel free to use it during the event.
- Please feel free to personalize your background/field of view as you would like. Have some fun!
Lighting
- For best effect, soft backlight (fixture out of frame) and indirect front light work well together to ensure a well lit and complementary space.
- In order to avoid flares/blinding other guests, please make sure fixtures are shaded or out of frame.
Camera Angle
- Cameras should be set so guests can see the entirety of your face and ideally a full ¼ frame;. shoulders and chest visible.
- A subtle high angle tends to be most flattering, a slight look ‘up’ to the camera.
- Side view should still show up to 3/4s of your face. Profile shots are not recommended.
