Deepanjalie Abeywardana heads the Media Research Team. She has extensive experience in media ethics, media behaviour as well as media and women. She also trains journalists on media ethics and has taken part in several fellowships and programs on media studies abroad. Additionally, she has experience on conflict resolution and human rights through her studies at University of Oslo, Norway and the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. Deepanjalie received a BA in International Relations from the University of Colombo and a MA in South Asian Studies from Pondicherry University, India where she was selected as one of the first two Sri Lankans to undertake the MA on a Madanjeet Singh Scholarship.

After a decade of being journalist at Thai News Agency; MCOT, In 2015, he initiated Thailand's first fact-checking TV program called "ชัวร์ก่อนแชร์" ('sure-gorn-share'; Thai phrase means 'make sure before you share’) which has grown to a fact-checking platform with multiple channels and content types. He leads Sure And Share Center team monitoring topics, finding the facts, creating contents, and answering Thai people’s questions.

Htaike Htaike Aung, Co-founder and Executive Director, Myanmar ICT for Development Organization (MIDO)
MIDO is one of the very few ICT-focused non governmental organization in Myanmar/Burma. MIDO focuses on ICTs for development, Internet freedom and Internet policy advocacy works in Myanmar. Since the introduction of the Internet to the public in Myanmar, she has been involved in Myanmar’s Internet propagation events. She is also a digital security & privacy trainer/consultant for human rights defenders in Myanmar. Some of the notable initiatives that MIDO is involved in are Panzagar (anti hate speech campaign), Kyeet election monitoring application, Myanmar Internet Freedom Forum, Peace Tech Exchange and Lighthouses (community information centres) etc.

Wahyu is the Editor-in-Chief of Tempo.co, Indonesia. In 2015, he led the Panama Papers project in Tempo that expose links between several prominent names in Indonesian business and political landscape with the hidden offshore financial structure. Now he is developing collaborative investigative projects with several media inside Indonesia and also cross border between Asian countries. He is also instrumental in fellowship programs for journalist and students across Indonesia to work as investigative reporters in Tempo’s newsroom.
Wahyu is also on the board of the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) Indonesia where he in in charge of partnership and international relation.
He is also the Secretary General of Indonesia Cyber Media Association (AMSI) a newly formed organization for digital media in the country. In an era of hoax and miss information, AMSI initiated cekfakta.com where 22 digital mainstream media work together to collaboratevely factcheck information.

Jency is also the co-host of the weekly fact check show Fact Vs Fiction.
Before joining BOOM, Jency was the Senior Editor at Business Standard’s Digital vertical and played a very important role in synergising the print and web operations and scale up the newsroom’s contribution to the web between 2013 to 2016. He has also spent over 8 years working in Mumbai as a city and business reporter and covered major stories in the first decade of this century.

Alexios Mantzarlis joined Poynter to lead the International Fact-Checking Network in September of 2015. In this capacity he writes about and advocates for fact-checking. He also trains and convenes fact-checkers around the world.
As Director of the IFCN, Alexios has helped draft the fact-checkers' code of principles, shepherded a partnership between third-party fact-checkers and Facebook, testified to the Italian Chamber of Deputies on the ""fake news"" phenomenon and helped launch International Fact-Checking Day. In January 2018 he was invited to join the European Union's High Level Group on fake news and online disinformation. He has also drafted a lesson plan for UNESCO and a chapter on fact-checking in the 2016 U.S. presidential elections in Truth Counts, published by Congressional Quarterly.
Alexios previously served as Managing Editor of Pagella Politica and FactCheckEU, respectively Italy's main political fact-checking website and the EU's first multilingual crowd-checking project. While at Pagella Politica, he presented weekly fact-checking segments on Virus, a prime time talk show airing on national broadcaster RAI 2.
Before becoming a fact-checker, he worked for the United Nations and the Italian Institute for International Political Studies.

Craig previously was the founding editor of BuzzFeed Canada, and was also the founder of Emergent.info, a rumor tracking project that was developed as part of a research fellowship with the Tow Center for Digital Journalism at Columbia University. His research resulted in the publication of ""Lies, Damn Lies, and Viral Content: How News Websites Spread (and Debunk) Online Rumors, Unverified Claims and Misinformation.""
