Startup Coffee Chat is a monthly event bringing startups from across Southeast Asia together to share best practices and learn from one another.

In this edition of Startup Coffee Chat, along with the Head of Data from GoPlay at Gojek and ShopBack, we'll be discussing data acquisition strategies, best practices on data security, developing products from a data-driven perspective, and more.

Gojek is a one-stop app for dozen of services, including ordering food, commuting, digital payments, among others. As of 2018, Gojek processed more than $9 billion annualized gross transaction value across all markets where it operates - in Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. 

Happy was part of a game company, Touchten that releases multiple games and is part of setting its data infrastructure. Still in love with the Entertainment industry, she's now in Gojek as part of the GoPlay team. GoPlay is a Gojek product that focuses on building live streaming service. Apart from work, Happy is setting up homeschool education for her child as she had imagined before work-from-home setting.

ShopBack is a one-stop rewards and discovery platform for users to earn cashback, while delivering performance-based marketing to merchants. First launched in Singapore in 2014, ShopBack has since expanded its reach to Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, Australia, Vietnam and Korea.

Yann AïtBachir has worked with numerous companies in France and South-East Asia over the years, in digital advertising and e-commerce industry. His experience in the field covers areas including managing performant data science, data engineering, as well as machine learning teams.

Senior Data Manager, Ruangguru

Ruangguru is the largest technology company in Indonesia that focuses on education-based services, with more than 22 million users and 300,000 teachers offering services in more than 100 subject areas. The company develops various technology-based learning services, including virtual class services, online exam platforms, subscription learning videos, private tutoring marketplaces, and other educational content.

Rendy is a data enthusiast, and has built data infrastructure and data warehouse from scratch at one of the unicorn startups in Indonesia. He is also a Google Developer Expert in Cloud, and actively creates content about data engineering, and shares these insights with the developer community.
