To address this, they teamed up with Google as part of a new initiative by the Startups for Sustainable Development program. This initiative fosters partnerships with impact startups like SurplusMap, harnessing the power of innovation to tackle the climate crisis and aligns with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

The collaboration yielded a groundbreaking machine learning (ML) model. This powerful tool integrates vast datasets on road networks, traffic patterns, points of interest, and more. By analyzing this wealth of information, it pinpoints the optimal locations for new EV chargers, streamlining infrastructure planning and ensuring convenient charging access for drivers. This data-driven approach is what's making SurplusMap's solution so valuable to governments and energy companies.
