Google strives to cultivate inclusive programs and events around the globe. We believe that diversity of perspectives and ideas leads to better discussions, decisions, and outcomes for everyone. We also aim to support local tech communities and partners and help foster connection and innovation at Sandbox events and beyond. Google Sandbox is designed to provide insights into work at Google through a closer look at our technology and culture, with a focus on bringing together Googlers and historically underrepresented communities in tech to connect and collaborate.There will also be recruiters available to speak with anyone interested in employment opportunities.

We will be accepting applications until Monday, 27th January 2020. Every applicant will be notified of their application status on or before Thursday, 30th January 2020.

Applicants who are waitlisted will be admitted on a space-available basis on the day of the event. If you are waitlisted, you are not guaranteed a seat for the event(s).

While the Google Sandbox series has a dedicated focus on engaging people from communities and backgrounds that have been historically underrepresented in the tech industry, the event and application are open to everyone.

Yes! While this program is geared towards working professionals, we do like to admit some students to foster an environment of hands-on learning and mentorship.

No, you do not have to be a member of one of our partner organizations. We welcome anyone to apply.

You're welcome to have your friend or +1 apply to attend the event using the form during the open application period. Please note that we tend to reach capacity with pre-registered applicants for events. If you would like to bring a friend or +1 who hasn't applied, they will be accommodated on a space-available basis on the day of the event. Admission is not guaranteed for walk-ins.

No worries. We've designed the program to provide value to all participants regardless of their job-seeking status, and we’d still love for you to join us to learn something new in the technical landscape and make useful connections with fellow professionals.

You will be responsible for your own transportation to and from the events. Please note that this event is intended for participants local to the Manchester area. Participants outside of that area may apply and attend but would be responsible for any travel and accommodation costs.

We will be providing heavy appetizers, beverages, and desserts designed to accommodate a variety of dietary needs and preferences. 

We are casual at Google, so please wear whatever you are most comfortable in. We find that many people dress in business casual for Google events.

If you wish to no longer receive event invitations, please unsubscribe here by entering your email address and clicking "submit". 

If you requested a Childcare stipend, you will receive a flat stipend of 78 GBP to assist in covering the cost of childcare during the event.

You will receive your stipend after the event once your attendance is confirmed. We will send your name and email address to our reimbursement partner Plus Relocation.

If you have concerns with us sharing your information with our external reimbursement vendor, please contact us at google-events-team@google.com. You can expect to hear from Plus Relocation about next steps within 7 business days following the event. They will manage the disbursement of funds.

Travel Reimbursements
FAQ

This section is restricted and applicable only to those who have been confirmed to attend the event and receive travel reimbursement.

A reimbursement is offered to those who have been invited to the event but are travelling from abroad or a location over 60km from the Manchester area. They will receive a reimbursement for an amount up to 50 GBP.

Please note: awardees must be 18 years of age or older, and must be able to attend the full event. You understand and agree that travel contains some inherent element of risk of accident, illness, injury, loss or death. In no event will Google, its affiliates, or agents, be liable for any harm, damage, claim, loss or other action arising out of travel to or from the event. 

Please first check with the relevant authorities to determine the required documents and arrangements. If you require a visa letter, you can send a request to google-events-team@google.com. Google will not be able to contact an embassy on your behalf.

You will be responsible for arranging all transport to and from the event.

You must keep all travel related receipts until you receive the payment as proof of travel may be requested. After the event, you’ll be contacted by our third-party vendor, Plus Relocation (PR), to initiate the reimbursement process. You will receive the final reimbursement amount via bank transfer.

The entitlement for travel reimbursement is non-transferable, and must be redeemed by you and only you.

No, travel reimbursement recipients are not covered by Google's corporate travel insurance, nor can we guarantee you'll be covered under any government health care schemes. We advise you to take out your own policy for medical coverage and repatriation before you travel.
