This talk will answer two questions for game developers: “Why should I care about gaming on Chrome OS?” and “How do I bring my game to Chrome OS?” The first part of the session will provide game developers with a recap on game specific ARC++ information they care about. Topics will include Chromebook devices (performance, hardware features), and the current state of the ecosystem (launch regions, game specific stats). Then the session will dive into how game developers can best support ARC++ technically: touch input compatibility, adding and supporting PC style input (keyboard and mouse), game controllers, game engine support (Unity, Unreal), handling resizing and resolution, and running in a multi-window environment are all topics. We will also touch on how best to profile and optimize performance on Chrome OS. The key takeaway of this session will be: “It’s easy to port my game to ARC++, and there is huge potential.” View on GDC site.
