Volodya

Volodya Shtenovych

Senior Software Engineer, Google Brain Zurich

"A jack of many trades" Volodya works on an internal Machine Learning platform and has been in Google since 2011. He developed a project management tool for Google in his 20% time. Originally from Ukraine, he took part in ACM Olympiads while in school and graduated from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv in 2009. He was in Poland for four years before infiltrating the San Francisco Bay Area. He now lives in Zurich, Switzerland. Volodya is more productive in Google Docs than in an IDE. On the odd occasion when he finds himself with some free time, he plays ping pong and pool during work hours and rides a road bike on the weekend.

Cristina-Elena Vintila

Technical Solutions Engineer Manager, Google Cloud Zurich

For the past 15 years, Cristina has worked for an antivirus company, as 4G/LTE Security Engineer, NFC Mobile Payment Architect, etc. Now she is helping Google Cloud Customers to maximize their investment with Google. She is passionate about maximizing the impact our Google products have in the lives of our customers. 

Laura

Laura Lowenthal

Software Engineer, Google London

Laura is a software engineer and team lead at Google. She studied Computer Science at Buenos Aires University and has since worked in different projects and roles and in a variety of domains, which is one of her favourite things about the job. She's always loved math and algorithms, but thinks developing software is primarily a social activity. She's never grumpy in the mornings but can fall asleep to the most thrilling action film if she's tired.

Andreas

Andreas Steiner

Software Engineer, Google Zurich

Andreas has been programming for fun since he first discovered QBasic on his Dad’s Windows 3.11 machine. He has since been working on high-density microelectrode arrays, computer assisted diagnosis of Tuberculosis, next generation genome sequencing, and data gathering for epidemiological purposes in resource-constrained countries. He joined Google in 2015 and started giving talks and workshops about applied machine learning after an internal specialization in this fascinating area.

JC van Winkel

Site Reliability Educator, Google Zurich

JC has been teaching and creating curricula for UNIX-related and programming language courses since 1991 while working for AT Computing, a small courseware spin-off of the University of Nijmegen, the Netherlands. In 2010, JC joined Google's Site Reliability Engineering team, working on production monitoring and he is now a founding member and the lead educator of the SRE education team, SRE EDU. He holds a BSc in Computer Science from Fontys University of Applied Sciences, Eindhoven, the Netherlands and a MSc in Computer Science from Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Iulia

Iulia Parasca

Software Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, Google Zurich

Iulia has been flirting with mathematics and physics since early education years, until she discovered the fun in programming during high school and switched directions. Originally from Romania, she completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at University College London. She first joined Google Zurich as a STEP intern in 2015 and re-joined the same team, BigQuery SRE, two years later as a full-time employee. She is passionate about all the amazing technology being built at Google, inside and outside her team, and did not have one single boring day at work so far. Iulia always starts her mornings with a flavored cup of coffee, to ensure the world spins in the right direction. 

 

Tatiana

Tatiana Schmidt

Software Engineer, Google London

Tatiana is a software engineer working on Google Fit. She has been at Google for almost 5 years and during those years has worked in various projects, including backend, web development, Android, wearables and research. She has a bachelor's in Computer Science from a University in her home country Brazil, where she worked on research labs in the areas of Computer Vision and Machine Learning and her final project and publications are in those areas.

Priya

Priya Saxena

Strategic Cloud Engineer, Google London

Priya is a cloud architect working for Google's strategic customers across EMEA region. She started her career as a software developer in India and then moved to work in France and the UK. She has a myriad of life experiences in different industries like Telecom, Banking, OS internals, Transportation, Virtualization and now in Cloud computing. She actively participates in tech and diversity events. She is passionate about innovating solutions, giving presentations, writing blogs on her vision for future tech and she currently has five patent filings.

Florian

Florian Rathgeber

Software Engineer, Site Reliability Engineering, Google London

Florian has been a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) at Google London for more than 2 years. His team "owns" reliability of Google Cloud Console, the main user interface for Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Before Google, Florian built data pipelines for meteorological data at the European Centre for Medium-range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), after completing a PhD in Computational Science at Imperial College London. He grew up in Germany, but academia brought him to China and Sweden, before ending up in the UK. 

Rose

Rose Grundy

Web Solutions Engineer, Google London

Rose is a Web Solutions Engineer working in gTech - part of Google that helps support many different sales and product teams. She builds internal tools used by Googlers and Google's partners. Originally from New Zealand, she used to develop iOS apps for an agency, before moving to the UK 3 years ago. Rose is interested in applying technology to the arts and creative fields, as well as getting young people enthusiastic about Computer Science.

Andreas

GiGi Demming

User Experience Researcher, Google London 

GiGi is the UX site lead for Play Console. She’s been at Google for just over a year and as a manager of an awesome team of clever people, her focus is on ensuring their well-being is looked after as much their delivery and career progression. Prior to joining Google, she was the Head of UX at Condé Nast International, building a team and UX best practices for iconic brands like Vogue and GQ. She also helped build research and design practices for companies such as The Guardian and Sony Playstation. In work, she has a passion for longitudinal studies and UI for novel interfaces. Outside of work she’s the world’s largest Golden Girls fan and loves soaking up the sun in her native Georgia as much as possible.
